Why convert from video here

Another video, or pictures

Choose one of ten video formats to convert your file to another video, or one of twelve image formats to get still images of its frames instead. Both options are in the same dropdown.

Settings that match the format

The panel offers only what the container you picked actually accepts, so you cannot choose a codec or a sample rate that the conversion would refuse.

Nothing to install

The conversion runs on our servers over an encrypted connection. There is no software to download and no account needed to use it.

One dropdown, two types of output

Start by choosing what you want to get. The video half of the dropdown offers MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WEBM, WMV, FLV, OGV, 3GP and 3G2. Choosing one of these converts your video to that container, and you can adjust the encoding settings below if needed.

The image half offers JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, TIFF, BMP, ICO, SVG, TGA, EPS, EXR and WBMP. These give you still images of the frames instead of another video, so the encoding controls disappear when you pick one: there is no codec or bitrate to set for a still image.

If you have no particular format in mind, leave it on MP4. That is what the page starts on and what plays on the widest range of devices and players.

The format select sits at the top of the settings panel, beside the uploader.

Every video setting the format allows

Set the frame rate, the screen size in pixels and the video codec. You can also deinterlace footage that came off a camcorder or a TV capture.

Bitrate has its own control. Constant quality keeps a fixed quality level and lets the file size fall where it will, while the bitrate modes let you name a target and a maximum in kbps. Leaving the method alone sends no bitrate at all and keeps whatever the source had.

Nothing here has to be touched. Every option starts on a setting that changes nothing, so an untouched panel simply moves your video into the format you asked for.

The audio track has its own settings

The sound is converted alongside the picture, and you can steer it separately: the audio codec, the bitrate, the sample rate and whether the result is stereo or mono.

44100 Hz is CD quality and 48000 Hz is the usual choice for video. Stereo suits music, mono is enough for a voice recording and saves a little space.

There is also a switch to drop the audio entirely, which is what you want for a clip that will be muted anyway.

Free to use, and private by default

Converting a video is free and needs no account. Every upload and download runs over an encrypted connection, so your footage cannot be read on the way.

Processing is fully automated: nobody watches your videos and they are never used to train AI models. You keep the copyright and the ownership of both the video you upload and the one you get back.

The servers that do the work are in Europe.

Questions about converting from video

Which formats can I convert my video to?

Ten video formats: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WEBM, WMV, FLV, OGV, 3GP and 3G2. Alongside them are twelve image formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, TIFF, BMP, ICO, SVG, TGA, EPS, EXR and WBMP. You choose in the settings panel, and the page starts with MP4.

What do I get if I pick an image format?

You get still images of the frames instead of another video. Because a still image has no codec, bitrate or audio track, the encoding controls disappear as soon as you choose one of the image formats.

Do I have to change any settings?

No. Choose a format and start. Every option in the panel begins on a setting that changes nothing, so the frame rate, the size and the codecs stay as they were unless you say otherwise.

Why do the settings change when I pick a different format?

Because each container supports different values, and the panel shows only the ones the format you chose accepts. Offering a codec or a sample rate the format cannot hold would produce a conversion that fails instead of a file.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like and each is converted separately with the same settings, then returned as its own file.

Is there a file size limit?

There is a limit on how large an upload can be, and it is higher on a paid plan than for a visitor without an account. The pricing page lists the current figures.
